The Public Health Emergency that expanded access to care

for Covid 19 ended on May 11, 2023

What the PHE expiration means for our patients:

COVID-19 testing and treatment

The PHE legislation included full government funding for COVID-19 testing and treatment with zero cost to the patient. This coverage stopped on Friday, May 12, 2023.

Now, Covid 19 care costs will be shared between patients and insurance carriers, typical to other treatments (like flu tests and strep tests). Patients’ cost responsibilities will vary by health plan and patients may become responsible for costs that were previously fully covered during the PHE.

Vaccines

Government funding of Covid vaccines – with no cost to families – will continue until the government’s supply is not available. We will notify you when the government supply is no longer available and what that will mean for patients/families.

OTC COVID-19 Tests

Current access to over the counter COVID-19 tests will end. If you have a question about coverage of OTC Covid tests please call the customer service number on your insurance card.
