Annie Kohlrus MD
Being a pediatrician is a dream come true for Dr. Annie Kohlrus.
“There was never another job or career for. Children are amazing - they change, grow and learn so quickly,” she says. “They are resilient, unique, and fun. We as adults can learn a lot by listening to the way a child sees the world. Being able to develop relationships from birth through college and partnering with parents to help their little ones become healthy adults is the world's greatest job, no contest.”
Dr. Kohlrus joined Johnson County Pediatrics in 2024. Families may also get to know her when she is working in the walk-in clinic.
She grew up locally, attending St. Thomas Aquinas. She then earned a degree in biology and a minor in psychology from the University of Kansas. She graduated from the KU School of Medicine, and then completed her residency at Children’s Mercy Hospital in 2024.
Her advice when choosing a pediatrician is to find a physician who is supportive and empathetic. You should always feel that you can have open communication with your doctor and leave with your questions answered. “I would tell first-time parents that they are always doing a much better job than they give themselves credit for,” she says. “You absolutely know your child best.”
Dr. Kohlrus values spending times with her husband Chris, their son Peter, and their very energetic Chocolate lab named Brandy. They love hiking and skiing in Colorado or simply visiting every park in the area when they have free time.
Dr. Kohlrus sees patients on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.
